Luminescent nanoparticles and micropowders for biophotonics and solid state lighting

Mardi 26 novembre 2013 10:00 - Duree : 45 minutes
Lieu : Salle des Séminaires du LMGP (M2-20), 2ème étage, Bât Phelma MINATEC - 3 parvis Louis Néel - 38000 Grenoble

Orateur : Alain IBANEZ (Institut Néel/MCMF)

During the last decade, the MatONLP team (Material, NonLinear Optics and Plasmonics) of Néel Institute has developed a great experience on the preparation of luminescent materials such as molecular nanocrystals, amorphous inorganic powders and hybrid organic-inorganic nanocomposites : bulk, homogeneous or nanocomposite thin films but also micro- and mesoporous silicate nanoparticles (NPs) or core-shell NPs. Various original wet chemical routes have been developed : confined growth of organic nanocrystals in sol-gel matrices, polymeric precursor methods, metal organic decompositions and co-precipitation processes. In this seminar an overview will be given on our different skills on coordination and solid-state chemistry, structural and physical chemistry characterizations on these nanostructured materials. Concerning the materials syntheses, several examples will be presented, as the syntheses of glassy aluminoborate powders for the development of phosphors for lighting devices or the accurate control of the confined nucleation of molecular nanocrystals in the pores of silicate sol-gel matrices leading to the preparation of hybrid nanocomposites thin films or NPs. On the other hand, this chimie douce chemistry can be also coupled with spin-coating, dip-coating, hydrothermal, microwaves and spray-pyrolysis technics. Finally, concerning the structural characterizations several examples will be included in this seminar such as electron microscopies and particularly electron diffraction, X-ray diffraction techniques as the PDF (partial distribution function) method and micro- or nano-photonics spectroscopies.
