The notion of "strong coupling regime" is relevant to many different area of physics. As a result, it does not always have the exact same meaning, thus conveyi ng some legitimate confusion and ambiguity to the non-specialists. In this mini course, my goal will be to clarify the different phenomena hiding behind this notion, and more specifically in the context of solid-state physics. Its relevance will be shown in particular within a basic description of exciton-polaritons, phonon-polaritons, and plasmons.
