Crystal Chemistry of positive electrode materials for Li- and Na-ion batteries probed at large scale facilities
Mercredi 15 novembre 2017 11:00
- Duree : 1 heure
Lieu : ILL 4, Seminar Room (no 163), 71 avenue des Martyrs - Grenoble
Orateur : Christian MASQUELIER (LRCS, UPJV Amiens)
The major working principles and criteria of choices for optimized battery materials will be reviewed. Crystal chemistry and crystallography are of fundamental importance for finding ad understanding the properties of new materials and their relevance will be illustrated through plenty of examples gathered within 25 years of research in the field. Tricky order-disorder phenomena often take place, as a function of temperature or of the chemical compositions attained electrochemically upon Li+ (or Na+) insertion / extraction. The extensive use of X-ray and neutron diffraction will be illustrated, both for the precise determination of the crystal structures of the pristine materials and for operando investigations during battery operation.
