The magnetic moment anomaly of the muon, g-2, most precisely measured with a magnetic storage ring the 1990’s at Brookhaven, disagrees at the 3-4 sigma level with the Standard Model prediction. A new experimental effort with the same storage ring and many upgrades is underway at Fermilab with the goal of 4-times improvement to the statistical uncertaintiesand corresponding improvements to the systematic uncertainties. The experimental approach combines high-energy, nuclear and precision atomic physics techniques to measure the rate of change of the muon spin projected onto its momentum and the storage ring magnetic field. I will describe the motivations, techniques and prospects for the new measurement.
