Mixtures of polyelectrolytes and surfactant have attracted many research efforts in the last decades. Their broad field of applications includes food technology, personal care products and pharmaceuticals. The advances made with neutron reflectometry in studies of those mixtures at the fluid interfaces are reviewed. Improved instrumentation has the surface excess of a single component and the composition of a mixture made accessible. The link to macroscopic properties (such as foam film stability) is discussed.
