Diblock copolymers consisting of two hydrophilic blocks can form core/shell particles in aqueous solution if attractive interactions of one of the blocks with other species lead to the formation of an insoluble complex, such as interpolyelectrolyte complexes, polyelectrolyte-surfactant (PE-S) complexes or complexes based on hydrogen bonds between polymer blocks. In this presentation, I will mention several examples of co-assembled systems involving double-hydrophilic block copolymers (DHBC) that we studied recently in our laboratory, using a combination of scattering, microscopic and spectroscopic techniques. I will focus on DHBC coassemblies based on PE-S complexes with perfluorinated surfactants and gemini surfactants.
