The Hexitec detector is designed for spectral /imaging of high energy X-rays. The detector is based on CdTe or CZT crystal conversion material readout with a large area CMOS ASIC. At present we have an 80x80 pixel (250um pixels) array capable of detecting every incident photon on the detector in the range from 2.5keV to 200keV while measuring the energy to 1keV FWHM or better. The detector is packaged in a temperature controlled enclosure and interfaces to a PC by Camera-Link, achieving a 10kHz frame rate readout. We have a plan to build a larger area device (possibly 10cmx10cm) but would like to engage with the synchrotron community to discuss what specification would be useful.
