Bombannes 2014 - 12th European Summer School on "Scattering Methods Applied to Soft Condensed Matter"
Vendredi 16 mai 2014 10:00
- Duree : 1 semaine 7 heures
Lieu : Les Bruyères, Carcans-Maubuisson, Gironde, France
Orateur : Plusieurs orateurs
The Bombannes summer school is devoted to the practical « state-of-art » approach to scattering methods, using neutrons, as well as X-ray and light sources - today’s key techniques to study structure and dynamics in systems containing colloids, polymers, surfactants and biological macromolecules. Since 1990 the Bombannes school series introduces, on a fundamental level, the current methodology of static and dynamic scattering techniques and their application to soft matter systems. It provides with a period of 2 years advanced training for young researchers with a working place in European laboratories at post-graduate and post-doctoral level.
The school provides an introduction to instrumentation and experimental methods in light, neutron and x-ray scattering, covering both dynamics and structural aspects. Scattering theory (from data treatment to simulation techniques and the inverse scattering problem) and lectures dedicated to special topics in the field of soft condensed matter make up the main body of the school. To name just a few, there will be topical lectures on surfactant systems, microemulsions, biological applications, colloidal aggregation, polymers and polymer processing, turbid suspensions, and scattering under external constraints.
