Fluid membrane vesicles in confinement

Invaginations of fluid membranes are ubiquitous in the biological cell. During endocytosis, for example, they form as precursors of vesicles. They are also observed within organelles such as the Golgi apparatus or mitochodria, the power plants of eukaryotic cells. Theoretical modelling can help to understand the occuring shapes and the different ingredients involved in their morphogenesis. In my talk, I will focus on two effects that can induce the formation of membrane invaginations : the interactions of curvature-inducing proteins and the influence of confinement.
