NMR in Chemical Engineering : Pro2NMR
Mardi 17 juin 2014 13:30
- Duree : 1 heure
Lieu : LNCMI, salle de conférences "René Pauthenet" (bâtiment J, 2ème étage) - 25 rue des martyrs - 38000 Grenoble
Orateur : Gisela GUTHAUSEN (Pro2NMR at IBG and IMVM, KIT, Karlsruhe, Germany)
In chemical engineering, question arise which can be answered by magnetic resonance methods, comprising diffusion measurements, tomography and spectroscopy. Often, “real” products and processes are in the focus of interest, which limit the application of various sample preparation methods. Often, samples are measured “as they are”.
Some examples will be shown, involving NMR fields from 20 up to 600 MHz. Molecular diffusion in geometrically restricted volumes gives access to the restricting dimensions, and chemical reactions are followed in real time leading to kinetic constants. Aging processes can be followed by means of NMR spectroscopy. Tomography, finally, allows the non-invasive measurement of flow fields and morphologies.
In addition, results of the collaboration with LNCMI – CNRS, Grenoble will show modern paramagnetic clusters and their specific NMR response via relaxometry and tomography.
