As scaling down of transistors is approaching the ultimate physical limit, 50 years of “More Moore” of the integrated circuit industry is expected to reach the end in the near future, and the next era is believed to be “More than Moore” : functional diversifications. As one of the most important “More than Moore” applications, passive integration for power management has been drawing intense R&D activities from leading-edge industry companies. In this talk, a sharing and a summary of the current progress in inductor integration for power management will first be discussed, and then the presenter’s recent research work on novel silicon-embedded inductors for power management applications will be presented.
