The regulation of neurotransmitter receptor number at postsynaptic sites is a critical parameter in synaptic plasticity. Receptors enter and leave synapses by lateral plasma membrane diffusion, as well as through active cytoskeleton transport. Synaptic trafficking involves different cargo adapters and accessory transport regulators. In addition, microtubules carry posttranslational modifications that may affect trafficking.
We study microtubule- and actin-dependent motor cargo complexes involved in synaptic delivery. Using mouse genetics and mouse behavioral analysis, we investigate the role of transport regulators in synaptic plasticity, learning and memory.
The presentation tries to summarize different projects of my laboratory studying neuronal transport.
