The PN3 Ultra-High Resolution Gamma Spectrometry Facility
Mercredi 6 avril 2016 09:00
- Duree : 1 heure
Lieu : ILL 1 - Seminar Room 07/08, 71 avenue des Martyrs - Grenoble
Orateur : M. JENTSCHEL (ILL, Grenoble, France)
The instrument PN3 was undergoing substantial modifications during the last 5 years. This included the decommissioning of GAMS4 and GAMS5, the construction of GAMS6 and DIGRA. Both new instruments were built to better satisfy requirements of a changing user community. At the same time the NP-group is preparing with FIPPS a new instrument, which also contributes to the gamma spectroscopy capabilities of the ILL.
The talk will review the main working principles of the ultra-high resolution spectrometers explaining the advantages and limitations with respect to other facilities like FIPPS. Further a short overview on the physics program of the PN3 spectrometers is given.
