Humans can detect 1 trillion odors. This discrimination power can be achieved through the differential
activation of no more than 400 olfactory receptors housed by our sensory neurons. We
are working on the description of olfaction mechanics at the atomistic-level. Our activities range
from the understanding of a single receptor dynamics to the deciphering of the olfactory code associated
with an odor. One of the goals is the building of a computational biomimetic nose that would
allow predicting the smell of a compound based on its chemical structure.
