GcpE and LytB, two targets for the development of new antimicrobials
Vendredi 12 mai 2017 11:00
- Duree : 1 heure
Lieu : Salle des séminaires de l’IBS - 71, avenue des Martyrs - Grenoble
Orateur : Myriam SEEMANN (Equipe Chimie Biologique et Applications Thérapeutiques, Institut de Chimie de Strasbourg)
GcpE (also called IspG) and LytB (also called IspH) are essential enzymes for the survival of most bacteria including Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Mycobacterium tuberculosis, Vibrio cholerea but also of the parasite Plasmodium falciparum (responsible for malaria). They catalyze the last two steps of the methylerythritol phosphate pathway involved in the biosynthesis of terpenoids. These enzymes do not exist in humans and are therefore valuable targets for the development of new specific antibacterial and antiparasitic drugs.
