Anisotropic antisymmetric exchange interaction in epitaxial ultrathin film for stabilization of anti-skyrmion

We recently gave the first experimental demonstration of Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction (DMI) in ultrathin epitaxial ferromagnetic systems (Phys. Rev. B 95, 214422). In this paper, we also predict that the presence of anisotropic DMI allows the formation of elliptical skyrmions and antiskyrmions. They are topological chiral magnetic solitons that are not yet stabilized in ultrathin systems. This was confirmed by recent calculations of the group of S. Blügel (Nature Communications 8, 308 (2017)). Moreover using the support of micromagnetic calculations and simulations I will explain the energy difference between a skyrmion and an antiskyrmion and under which condition they can coexist.
