The fabrication of transparent conductors is currently realized by thin films of transparent conductive oxides (TCOs), and in particular indium tin oxide (ITO). The as-made ITO transparent electrodes suffer from limitations like a costly fabrication process, brittleness and risky price of indium. The use of solution-processable nanomaterials appears to be a promising alternative since it affords a large area and low-cost deposition method, with high performances. Some significant work has been recently carried out using several materials for fabricating flexible transparent electrodes. We will present some developments, and in particular flexible transparent thin films relying on random networks of metallic nanowires and their integration into functional flexible devices such as film heaters, photovoltaic cells, touch screens...
