Although the application of copolymeric nanoparticles towards biomedical research has much potential to provide new modes of therapeutic intervention, there are critical obstacles hindering
progress from the lab to the clinic. Issues such as producibility, toxicity, non-specificity and poor circulation or bio-distribution hinder efficacy in vivo and limit the potential of new systems. The approach adopted in my research (through collaboration with various research groups) has been to develop copolymer-based nanotechnologies that will be more suitable for biomedical application due to an emphasis upon biodegradability, scalability and morphological control. Applications
towards enzymatic therapy and drug delivery showcase the utility of this approach and future developments are only limited by collaborative opportunities.
