i) Nuclear structure of neutron-rich nuclei far from stability produced from neutron induced fission. ii) Fission of heavy elements to explore the dynamics of the fission process.

In order to achieve this goal, ancillary devices are required to increase the sensitivity of fission fragments and kinetic energy measurement with good efficiency. Newly designed gas filled dipole magnet characterized by 1/r magnetic field with Thales circle-shaped dipole edge is proposed to separate fission fragments without tracking ions. The design of the GFM spectrometer from concept to optimization process using realistic magnetic field calculation will be presented. Characteristics study of the GFM for detecting fission fragments using Monte-Carlo simulation, based on test experimental works at LOHENGRIN will be shown. The ion separation power compared to the other device and its effect on gamma-ray spectroscopy will be discussed.
