ATTENTION !!! SEMINAIRE ANNULE !!! Biodiversity Dynamics in Metacommunities : Modeling and Inference

How species survive, coexist and form local communities is a fundamental question in ecology. Answering this question implies taking into account the impact of environment and interactions between species, locally and in the short term, but also biogeographical and evolutionary dynamics playing at larger spatial scale and over the long term. Metapopulation and metacommunity theories aim to achieve this integration. I will present the structure and dynamics of some metapopulation and metacommunity models, and will expose some perspectives for predictive modeling and inference of ecological mechanisms from observational data.
