Lundi 9 septembre 2013 14:00
- Duree : 1 heure
Lieu : Chadwick Amphitheatre, ILL4, Grand Floor - 6 rue Jules Horowitz - Grenoble
Orateur : Prof. K.F. SCHUSTER (IRAM, Grenoble, France)
The formation of stars, the generation of higher order elements and finally the possibility of life is determined by the availability of cold matter susceptible to undergo gravitational contraction. I will outline the latest results in the related radioastronomical research and the particular role of millimeter wave astronomy. After a short introduction into the basic instrumental concepts I will present the physics of star formation on local and global scales and the latest observational results. Future projects and the role of IRAM will be given as an outlook.
